Aizawl| The capital of Mizoram, Aizawl has sanctioned loans to the tune of Rs 3868.95 lakh for various development projects in the state which are expected not only to bring in development in rural villages but also augment the state economy.
The projects include renovation of 194 state schools. Kitchens and dining halls will be built in these schools as part of the renovation exercise.
Six minor irrigation projects will be set up at Tuihnial, Tuilaklui, Lower Tuiphu, Tuichhuahen and Zobawhzau. The funds will also be utilized to repair and construct six water supply projects at Keitum, Tuisen Bolia, Sialsuk, Samluikhai, Leite and Rotlang. A rain water harvesting project also has been proposed at Sialsuk for which a reservoir will be built there at a cost of Rs 296 lakh.
The school renovation project, estimated to cost Rs 2553.58 lakh, is expected to be completed by 2019, while the target for completing the water supply projects has been set for 2020, officials said.
While the total funds required for the project is estimated at Rs 4290.44 lakh, the remaining amount will be borne by the State government.
NABARD has sanctioned the funds under its Rural Infrastructure Development Fund.
