Free Cycle Free Uniform

<b>Patna |</b> The Bihar government is set to give school dresses to students while 7.33 lakh girl students will get a bicycle this financial year.

According to the government’s new rules, secondary school students with 75% or more attendance will receive a bicycle and a school uniform. About 80,000 schools have classes up to 10+2 in the state. Among the schools their 2.22 crore students up to class 8th .Out of this estimate 72 lakh students won't be getting school dresses. As well, 1.1 lakh girl students won't get a bicycle.

According to Bihar education project, only 65% of students have 75% attendance. The project's state program officer, Rajiv Ranjan Prasad, says that, “students will be facilitated with proper uniform and bicycle only if they have 75% of attendance”.

In the state, to attract the students, government provides the students with school uniform for students of std.1st to 8th and school uniform with a bicycle for students of std. 9th to 12th of the eight divisions of 38 districts in the state.

Earlier, camps were conducted in schools for providing school uniform and bicycle. But this year onwards the money required is now deposited in the accounts of the student. Only the students of class 9th will get a bicycle and for this purpose Rs 100 crore will be spent. While, Rs 400 crore will be spent for the uniform of the students of std. 1st to 8th.Whereas, Rs 400 crore will be spent on scholarships, uniforms and other purposes.
