Bhopal| A special nutrition campaign will be launched from February in the state. The campaign aims at improving the condition of the low weight children in the state.
Minister for Women and Child Development Mrs. Archana Chitnis issued a directive to the department to identify low weight children in the entire state engaging aaganwadi workers in the special campaign. She also instructed the authorities to make a special action plan for such identified children.
A directive was also issued to the collectors and commissioners to initiate action at their level for negligence on the part of the department personnel in execution of the department’s plan for low weight children.
The minister announced that in order to encourage better works under the special nutrition campaign, awards will be given from aaganwadis to state level. The awards will be instituted in the name of Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya.
To ensure an effective campaign the minister has instructed that aaganwadi workers and assistants should not be engaged in any other activities during the time of aaganwadis i.e. till 1.00 p.m. Also meetings should not be held on ‘mangal diwas’ and ‘gram swasthaya evam poshan diwas’ on Tuesday and Friday. Aaganwadi workers and assistants should pay attention completely on children. The assessment work of campaign will start from April 2017 and will be completed by February 2018.
Efforts will be made to stop shifting of families of extreme low weight children by linking them with livelihood activities conducted by various departments.
