Patna| The upcoming International Airport at Patna will have the distinction of being the first airport in the country to be connected with the city through elevated road.
It is being constructed at Bihta, a satellite township about 30 KMS from Patna which already has an airforce base
Work has already started in the Air- base to provide all modern and latest technology which are existing in the world.
In a high level technical Committee’s meeting Dy.CM and Minister of Road and Transport, Tejasei Yadav directed the engineers and bureaucrats to evaluate the prevailing situation of the site.
It is an irony that Patna International Airport having a shorter sir strip, can't facilitate landing of bigger International planes. This is why a new green field airport has been planned at Bihta and the work has already started on the project. So far
Bodhgaya was the only Airport in the state where International Planes could land.
“About 500 acres land would be acquired by the Government and four villages are ordered to vacate the village in the locality.” said Patna Collector Sanjay Kumar Agrawal. Further, he added that fund has already been allocated for villagers.
“In addition, Muzaffarpur, Purnea and Raxaul airports too would be developed shortly. All the concerned District Collectors are directed to provide the current status of the Airports.” Said Chief Secretary Anjani Kumar Singh today.
The facilities of domestic flights would be provided in all those districts. This is remarkable that Bihar has emerged as a high rank Air-passengers in India. Air-traffic of Patna is known as dangerous across the country. It has no sufficient run-way to carry the International flights. In the wake of International flights the demand of BIHTA airport was hanging in the air. But, after a marathon meeting Government of India agreed to provide the land of International Airport.
