Students belonging to SC, ST and OBC community, who are preparing for competitive exams now doesn’t have to worry about their fees as government announces free coaching.
Now students belonging to SC, ST and Dalit community do not have to shell out their pocket as government announces free couching for reserved category.
As per government’s revised policy, Dalit and SC, ST students will be provided the facility of free coaching for competitive exams. Earlier, Central government awarded them with maximum amount of 20,000 rupees for coaching fee.
The SC, ST students will be provided high level training for performing better result in competitive exams to obtain appropriate jobs in public and private sectors. The Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry has revised the central sector scheme. The new policy will also list names of reputed institutions to candidates who belong to schedule cast, schedule tribe and other backward section for effective coaching to crack the competitive level exams.
According to Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, earlier maximum amount of 20,000 rupees is given to such students for coaching purpose. And students themselves have to pay the rest amount if fee costs more than 20,000. Now with the recent amendment in the policy, students will have to pay nothing for coaching as central government will incur their expenses. The Ministry is also preparing a list of reputed coaching institutes. To make a list of effective training institutes that provides quality coaching to its students, ministry will also invite applications from coaching institutes. A committee is set up for the selection of these coaching institutes. This committee will decide the fate of these coaching institution’s applications and proposals. The selected applications will be listed after a thorough investigation. The Coaching centers which have branches in more than one district will get preference.
The students belonging to SC, ST, OBC and other backward section will be provided free coaching on the basis of their economic condition. Only students whose annual family income is 6 lakh or less than 6 lakh can avail the benefit.
The government too hiked the monthly stipend of students preparing for competitive exams. Earlier, students who prepares for such competitive exams right from home gets 1500 rupees now it has gone up to 2500. Whereas students who prepares, being away from home will now receive 5,000 monthly which was 3000 earlier. The students who are physically handicap or disable will be provided special allowance from government.
